Dammar varnish is mainly used in oil painting. Its task is to protect paintings made with oil paints and give them a beautiful gloss. Varnish may show some aging characteristics such as yellowing and cracking. It can be successfully diluted with traditional spirit or turpentine. It should only be used on completely dry layers of paint.
